Dukes Open Up Against Oklahoma in First Women’s College World Series Appearance

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The James Madison softball team continues its historic postseason run as they are set to make their first ever appearance in the Women's College World Series against #1 Oklahoma in the opening game at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium - OGE Energy Field in Oklahoma City, Okla. at noon on Thursday, June 3.
What: James Madison Dukes (39-2, 17-1 CAA) vs. #1 Oklahoma Sooners (50-2, 16-1 Big 12)

- The Dukes punched their ticket to the program's first ever Women's College World Series, becoming the first team in the CAA to participate in the WCWS.
- JMU becomes the first school not from a power five conference to reach the Women's College World Series since Louisiana achieved the feat back in 2014.
- It is the first time since 2012 that a non-seeded team will play in Oklahoma City, as JMU and Georgia join the 2012 LSU and South Florida squads.

- After clinching their third Super Regional in program history, the Dukes defeated #8 Missouri in the Columbia Super Regionals
- JMU won the series 2-1, winning the first game (2-1) and the final game (7-2) after falling in the second game (0-7) to the Tigers.

- Alissa Humphrey made her first NCAA appearance in the Regional Final to strikeout three batters and collect her 14th win in the circle.

- Odicci Alexander earned CAA Pitcher of the Year after her outstanding performance in the circle. During the CAA Tournament she recorded one no-hitter, setting a tournament single-game record for strikeouts (16) and a two-hit shutout against Delaware in the CAA Championships.
- Alissa Humphrey was named CAA Rookie of the Year and to the Schutt Sports/NFCA DI National Freshman of the Year Top 15 after her spectacular freshman campaign as she set the JMU single season record for no-hitters in a season (4). Against Drexel she recorded her fourth no-hitter of the season
- Madison Naujokas was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year after her stellar season at second base.
