Odicci Alexander Named D1 Softball's Woman of the Year

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison recent graduate Odicci Alexander has been named D1 Softball's Woman of the Year, as announced by the organization on Wednesday morning.Â

Alexander contributed to the Dukes success during their historic 2021 postseason run, throwing 94 strikeouts in 75.5 innings and finishing with a record of 8-3 in the circle. She picked up wins over four top-10 teams, including the 2021 NCAA National Champion Oklahoma, and two wins over No. 25 Liberty. She earned a spot on the Women's College World Series All-Tournament team for her outstanding efforts in the circle.

The Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year and Softball America's NCAA Pitcher of the Year finished the 2021 season with a record of 18-3 in the circle with a 1.71 ERA, and 204 strikeouts in 143.2 IP.Â

The right-handed pitcher threw 10 double-digit strikeout games this season with a career-high and program single-game record of 19 strikeouts in the Dukes' 10-inning victory over Liberty at the Knoxville Regional. Alexander recorded one perfect game at College of Charleston and one no-hitter against Delaware at the CAA Tournament as she threw a tournament single-game record of 16 strikeouts.

In the batter's box she finished with 13 runs, 26 hits, 12 RBI and 17 walks.Â

The redshirt senior signed with USSSA Pride following the conclusion of her career, becoming the fourth Duke to sign with the organization, and Athletes Unlimited for the league's second season. Alexander was named a finalist for Best Female College Athlete ESPY Award.
