LOUISVILLE, Ky. – James Madison women's soccer erased a three-goal deficit by scoring three consecutive goals, but were unable to overcome Louisville as a 62
nd minute goal downed the Dukes, 4-3, Friday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The game was originally scheduled to be played Thursday night, but was postponed to Friday night due to weather.

JMU falls to 1-2 on the young season, while Louisville moves to 2-0.

The game started off slow for both teams, with
Iris Rabot representing the lone shot taken in the game by either team through the first 10 minutes. Louisville responded with their first shot of the game 13:28 into the first half and then got on the board first nearly a minute and 20 seconds later. Both teams would juggle possessions for the next eight minutes with neither team getting much of an advantage on the other until Louisville found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead in the 24
th minute.

The Cardinals would strike for the third time, putting JMU in a 3-0 hole with just over seven minutes remaining in the half. The Dukes would not back down from the challenge though, as
Hannah Coulling knocked in the Dukes' first goal of the night after the ball ricocheted off the Cardinal goalie from a shot by
Maddie Majewski. The teams would go into halftime with the score 3-1.

Louisville came out hot in the second half, putting two shots up within minutes of the start of the period. It wouldn't take long though for JMU to get back on the board, with
Ebony Wiseman putting the ball into the back of the net for the second time this season in the 55
th minute and cutting the deficit to one. The Dukes then tied the game at three in the 61
st minute when Wiseman found the rebound off of a Coulling shot and passed it back to Coulling for her second goal of the night.

It was Coulling's first multi-goal game of her career, as she also took a career-high four shots.

The comeback attempt was short lived however, as Louisville retook the lead a minute later by making the score 4-3. The Dukes continued to pressure the Cardinal defense for the remainder of the game, outshooting Louisville 7-2. The shots couldn't find the goal though, as Louisville held on to take the game, 4-3.

Quoting Head Coach Joshua Walters, Sr.
"I loved the fight we showed and the tactical flexibility tonight. There were some good performances for sure. It's difficult to overcome a three-goal deficit, especially when you feel at fault for the errors, but credit to the girls for their grit.
Hannah Coulling showed great leadership tonight and loved that she scored a brace, nearly getting a hat trick"
