NEW MARKET, Va. – James Madison cross country recorded a fourth-place finish at the JMU Invitational Friday evening at New Market Battlefield.

The Dukes registered 83 points in their fourth-place finish as they trailed behind third-place Richmond (60 points), second-place Radford (47 points) and first-place George Washington (31 points).

JMU was led by sophomore Clare Morelli with her 11^th-place time of 20:15.5. Classmate Jessica Cantrell followed close behind in 13^th as she crossed the finish line at 20:22.7.

Rounding out the top five for the Dukes were Maddy Hesler (16^th, 20:45.4), McKenzi Watkins (21^st, 21:00.8) and Sinead Sargeant (27^th, 21:21.4).

Quoting Coach Rinker
"We had some really good races today - Clare Morelli and Jessica Cantrell did an excellent job," expressed head coach Dave Rinker. "We were not at full strength going into the meet with a few injuries, so it was great to see those that we have not been having to count on step up. We've got a chance to be really good and today put us one step closer."
