Dukes Stay Put at #3 in Latest Stats Perform FCS Top 25

CHICAGO – Fresh off its bye week, James Madison remained at #3 in the newest Stats Perform FCS Top 25.
The Dukes, who received five first-place votes in this week's poll, are 3-0 on the year after opening the season with home wins against Morehead State (68-10) and Maine (55-7) and a road triumph at Weber State (37-24).
Through the first month of the FCS season, JMU leads the country in scoring offense (53.3) while ranking 10th in scoring defense (13.7).
The Dukes also rank second in tackles for loss per game (10.7), third in rushing defense (36.7), completion percentage (71.6%), pass efficiency (192.67) and turnover margin (+2.33), fourth in total defense (234.0), fifth in total offense (519.3) and third-down defense (27%) and seventh in third-down offense (50%).
The Colonial Athletic Association boasted six teams in this week's top 25, as joining the Dukes were #9 Delaware (2-1), #12 Villanova (3-1), #21 Rhode Island (3-0), #22 Richmond (2-2) and #25 New Hampshire (3-1).
JMU was one of five Colonial Athletic Association schools to be ranked by Stats Perform. The Dukes were joined by #8 Delaware (2-1), #11 Villanova (3-0), #21 New Hampshire (3-0) and #24 Richmond (2-1). Rhode Island also received votes.
The Dukes also stayed put at #2 in the latest AFCA FCS Coaches' Top 25 poll, earning one first-place vote.
JMU is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 as it travels to Durham, N.H., to face #25 New Hampshire. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium and will be televised on NBC Sports Boston and streamed on FloFootball.
