THE BRONX, N.Y. – James Madison saw two runners finish in the top 30 as the Dukes placed eighth out of 34 teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.

JMU tallied 241 points in the 6K race, 22 points behind seventh-place UMass Lowell. Stony Brook took home the team title with 105 points followed by Richmond (177), and New Hampshire (179).

How It Happened
- Junior Miranda Stanhope led the way for James Madison with a fifth-place finish with a time of 21:20.1 in a field of 345 runners.
- Freshman Gabriella Garcia (28th – 22:07.0) was the second Duke to cross the finish line, followed by sophomore Sofia Terenziani (56th – 22:35.6).
- First-year Faithe Ketchum (70th - 22:43.6) and senior Maddy Hesler (82nd – 22:52.2) rounded out the scoring.Â
Meet Notes
- Stanhope's performance marked her third top-10 effort of the season. Additionally, the junior has been the top finisher for the Dukes in every meet she's competed in dating back to the Spring 2021 season.
- Hesler made the biggest jump after the 3.9K split, moving up 27 spots the rest of the way.
- The team posted an average time of 22:19.7 with a spread of 1:32.1 amongst the scoring five.
