LYNCHBURG Va. – James Madison women's tennis completed play at the Liberty Hidden Duel (Oct. 1-2), with three student-athletes turning in undefeated performances at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.

The trio of
Daniela Voloh,
Daria Munteanu and
Alexandra Prudente went unbeaten, with Voloh and Munteanu each finished 6-0 while Prudente went 5-0. All three were 3-0 in singles play while Voloh and Munteanu teamed up for a 3-0 doubles weekend. Prudente also went 2-0 in doubles play with
Hope Moulin.

JMU captured a combined 17 singles victories and 6 doubles victories to round out its second fall tournament of the season.

The event was played with a hidden-dual format. Saturday featured doubles play against all competing teams and singles play against Liberty. On Sunday, JMU faced off in singles action versus individuals from Virginia Tech, VCU, Delaware and Liberty.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saturday, Oct. 1 – Doubles Play
JMU won six doubles matches, earning three against Liberty, two against Virginia Tech, one against VCU.

The team of Voloh and Munteanu collected wins against Liberty's Maretha Burgr and Priscila Janikian (7-6 (6)), Virginia Tech's Semra Aksu and Dariya Radulova (6-3) and VCU's Anja Draskovix and Yelizaveta Karlova (6-2).

Doubles partners
Hope Moulin and Prudente cruised to their two victories, taking down LU's Elsa Kirch and Bruna Sampaio (6-1) and Kirch and Willa Rogers (6-0).

The JMU duo of
Daria Afanasyeva and
Ines Oliveira also secured a doubles win against Viginia Tech's Charlotte Cartledge and Sabine Richtrova (6-3).

Saturday, Oct. 1 – Singles Play vs. Liberty
JMU followed doubles play with a dominant showing in singles against host Liberty, as they won seven of nine to close Saturday's action. Six of nine matches went to super tiebreakers, with JMU winning five of six.

Afanasyeva rallied past Janikian by a score of 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (8), while Oliveira fended off Micaela Ode Mitre, 6-4, 7-5. Voloh won her first of three singles matches against Marina Davtyan, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (3), and Munteanu held off Burger, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (4). Rounding out Friday,
Lynelle Lim took down Rogers, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (6), Prudente defeated Sampaio, 6-2, 6-1 and
Hayley Glen came back to beat Kirch, 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7).

Sunday, Oct. 2 – Singles Play vs. All Teams
On Saturday, JMU won 10 more singles matches, as it faced Virginia Tech, VCU, Delaware and Liberty athletes throughout the day.

Against the Hokies, JMU went 4-2, winning a pair in super-tiebreak fashion. Afanasyeva downed Erika Cheng by a 6-1, 7-5 margin, while Voloh slipped past Aksu, 7-5, 7-5. Winning tight matches were
Kylie Moulin and Munteanu. Moulin rallied past Makenna Doyle, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (3), and Munteanu defeated Kirsten Husted, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (5).

The final round of singles featured matches against VCU and Delaware. Voloh completed her 6-0 weekend with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph versus Delaware's Toni Nelson.
Kylie Moulin closed the day with a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (7) win againsy VCU's Victoria Matasova, while Munteanu won her sixth match against VCU's Draskovic, 7-6, 0-1 retired.

Four extra matches were played, all featuring Liberty opponents, as JMU went 3-1 in those bouts. Prudente won matches against Kirch, 6-2, 6-0, and Rogers, 6-2, 6-1, to cap off her unbeaten weekend. Lim also claimed a win against Sampaio, 6-2, 6-3.

JMU will be back in action next weekend, as it travels to Morgantown, W.Va., for the West Virginia Duals on Oct. 7-9.
