FOLEY, Ala. – James Madison volleyball swept Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-20) Friday afternoon in Foley, Alabama.

The Dukes improved to 22-4 while the Eagles fell to 16-12.

Miëtte Veldman led the Dukes in kills win 12, while
Sophie Davis recorded 10 kills and five blocks with a hitting percentage of .444.
Julia McNeley tallied three aces, while Georgia Southern, the conference leader in aces, only recorded three as a team

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
The Dukes got off to a quick 5-2 lead and never trailed the entire set. Blocks set the pace for JMU, with three straight extending its lead to secure the win.

Second Set
A 4-0 run helped the Dukes break out early, but the Eagles tied things up at 15-15. Another 4-0 run with kills from three separate players gave the Dukes the edge to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Third Set
Georgia Southern broke out 5-1 early, but JMU responded to tie things back up 5-5. The Dukes broke ahead again, but a 5-0 run from the eagles tied the set 18-18. A final 5-0 run put JMU on top to advance to the next round of the tournament.

The Dukes will take on Troy on Saturday at 5:00 PM ET after Troy qualified in a 5 set battle against Arkansas State. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
