Centeio Added to CFPA National Performer of the Year Midseason Watch List

CHARLESTON, S.C. – James Madison quarterback Todd Centeio was named to the midseason watch list for the 2022 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy.

Through nine starts with the Dukes, Centeio is 164-of-252 for 2,410 yards and 21 touchdowns with five interceptions. On the ground, he's rushed for 368 yards and six scores to tally 2,778 total yards with 27 touchdowns responsible for.

Nationally, Centeio ranks top 25 in seven statistical categories, including second in both yards per completion (14.7) and yards per pass attempt (9.56). He's also seventh in pass efficiency rating (168.9), 11th in point responsibility (18.2), 14th in total offense (308.7), 21st in passing yards (267.8) and 25th in passing touchdowns (21).

A total of 38 FBS players earned spots on the list. The 2022 trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with an eight-inch crystal football on top. All FBS players are eligible for this award. The winner will be announced on Jan. 13, 2023.

This is the first JMU player to be recognized for this award at the FBS level. Previously, two JMU quarterbacks won the award at the FCS level in Bryan Schor (2016) and Cole Johnson (2021).

Centeio and the Dukes close the season on Saturday, Nov. 26 when they host #23 Coastal Carolina at Bridgeforth Stadium. Kickoff is set for a noon start on ESPNU.
