THE DUKES
- Following a hard-fought 76-65 loss at the hands of #13 North Carolina on Nov. 20, the Dukes welcome Liberty to Atlantic Union Bank Center on Nov. 23 for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
- UNC came into the game as No. 4 in the country in rebounds per game at 52.33. The Dukes out-rebounded the #13 Tar Heels 44-42 and have won the rebounding battle in every game thus far.
- Senior Kiki Jefferson recorded a stat line of 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. The last time the guard reached the 30-point plateau was last season at William & Mary (Feb. 6) in which she finished with 32.
- Junior Peyton McDaniel was strong from deep, going 5-of-10 (50.0%) for 17 points against the Tar Heels. Classmate Jamia Hazell also reached double figures with 11 points and dished out three assists. Junior Kseniia Kozlova pulled down 10 rebounds, while classmate Claire Neff led the Dukes in blocks with two.
- Jefferson has averaged 28.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per outing in the past two games, shooting 18-of-28 (64.3%) from the floor and 7-of-11 (63.6%) from deep. At Longwood, the guard led all scorers with 26 points on 9-of-12 (75.0%) from the floor and 3-of-5 (60.0%) from downtown. The Lancaster, Pa. native then recorded a season-high 30 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out five assists in a 76-65 loss to #13 North Carolina. The senior now boasts 13 career double-doubles and four games scoring 30 or more.
- Following Sunday's result, the Dukes rank No. 3 in the nation in rebounding margin, averaging +20.4 boards per game through five contests.
- Fans can watch Wednesday's game on ESPN+ where Curt Dudley (pxp) and Betsy Blose (color) will have the call. Additionally, Corey Spector will be on 92.1 and 550AM WSVA.
SCOUTING LIBERTY
- The Flames are 2-1, most recently defeating Hampton at home, 79-48, on Nov. 17.
- LU is led by redshirt senior center Mya Berkman who has averaged 13.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per outing.
- Liberty went 28-5 in its 2021-22 campaign, falling in the ASUN semifinals to No. 1 seed Jacksonville State, 59-57, on March 9.
SERIES HISTORY
- James Madison leads the all-time series 13-3 and has won eight of the last 10 matchups.
- Last time these two met, Liberty came out on top with a 66-61 OT victory on Nov. 18 in Lynchburg, Va. Kiki Jefferson scored 21 points, while Jamia Hazell and Steph Ouderkirk chipped in with 13 and 12, respectively.
