HAMPTON, Va. – Trailing by four early in the fourth quarter, James Madison fought back and closed out the game on a 5-0 run to overcome Hampton, 57-52, Sunday afternoon inside the Convocation Center.

With the win, James Madison improves to 8-2 for the program's best start since going 11-2 in the 2019-20 campaign. The Lady Pirates fall to 3-6 and will host ECU on Dec. 21.

How It Happened
- Jefferson and Germond set the tone, combining for three triples in the first quarter.
- In her first game back, Goodman scored seven points, shooting 3-for-3 in the opening frame to give JMU an 18-12 advantage.
- The Dukes continued to play stingy defense, highlighted by a 1-12 (8.3%) shooting stretch for the Lady Pirates.
- James Madison cleaned up on the boards in the second period with a 16-6 advantage to help build a 30-18 Dukes' lead heading into the break.
- Hampton fought back to tie the game at 35-35 halfway through the third quarter with a 14-3 run. HU took a 41-40 lead at the 1:56 mark of the third period and finished the quarter up 43-42.
- The Dukes found themselves trailing 46-42 early in the fourth quarter, but manage to retake the lead, 48-46, at the 6:19 mark.
- The Lady Pirates then made it a 52-52 game with 2:51 remaining; however, they went scoreless from there on out. James Madison took advantage of HU's poor shooting from the free throw line, finishing the game on a 5-0 run to take the 57-52 win.
