LYNCHBURG, Va. – James Madison women's tennis was unable to capture its first road win of the season, falling 4-1 at Liberty on Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.

The Flames improved to 4-3 on the year, while the Dukes fell to 2-4.

Liberty won a pair of doubles matches to gain the early lead. On court three, Marina Davtyan and Esther Lovato downed
Natalia Nikolopoulou and
Amanda Nord by a 6-1 score for the doubles advantage.

The Flames clinched the doubles point on court two, as Micaela Ode Mitre and Maria Juliana Parra Romero claimed a 6-4 victory against
Daria Afanasyeva and
Kylie Moulin.

In singles play, Liberty doubled its lead on court one, as Romero beat Nikolopoulou, 6-1, 6-0. Lovato made it a 3-0 lead for the hosts on court four after she defeated
Hope Moulin, 6-2, 6-4.

The Dukes got on the board with a win on court two. Afanasyeva pushed past Alexandra Almborg in a tightly-contested bout, 7-5, 6-4.

Liberty closed out the match on court five once Tiffany Nguyen took a 7-5, 6-4 victory from Nord.

Two other courts went unfinished, with both
Kylie Moulin and
Daniela Voloh battling in the third set of their respective matches.
