HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison baseball dropped their first of two midweek contests this week, falling by a score of 10-2 to Richmond on Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes fall to 19-17 on the year, while the Spiders move to 17-16.

Freshman
Todd Mozoki got the start, tossing a career-high three innings and retiring three batters by strikes. At the plate, redshirt junior
Kyle Novak led the team going 1-for-5 with a triple and an RBI.

How It Happened
Richmond was able to get out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning before adding a fourth run in the second. They then scored twice more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead going into the bottom half of the inning, with five of the six runs coming with two outs. The Dukes were able to get on the board with a single up the middle off the bat of redshirt sophomore

The Spiders added three runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-1 lead. JMU was able to get on the board again, as sophomore
Jalen Buster singled in the seventh inning and scored on a triple from Novak to chip at deficit, 9-2.

The visitors would score another run though in the top of the ninth to lead 10-2, allowing just a walk and a hit by pitch in the bottom half of the ninth for the win. Rob Ready earned the victory for Richmond after starting and going three innings.
