KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Senior
Neal Shipley of the James Madison men's golf team picked up his third straight top-15 individual finish on Sunday afternoon, leading the way as the Dukes took 11th at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, hosted at The Club at Irish Creek (par 71, 7,099 yards).
Shipley racked up 16 birdies across three rounds, tied for fourth-most in the 92-player field, as he carded 67-71-71 to tie for 12th at 209 (-4) for the weekend. The performance was his second-lowest 54-hole score of the season, while his opening round was just one shot off his collegiate best to par.
As a team, the Dukes carded rounds of 287-283-290, taking 11th at 860 (+8), two shots behind 10th-place Appalachian State on a crowded 15-team leaderboard.
Freshman
Daniel Cheng continued his strong spring, posting 74-70-73 on the weekend to tie for 53rd at 217 (+4). His second round marked his ninth round of par or better in just 18 chances this season, third-most on the team.
Redshirt junior
Nick Schlickenrieder (74-72-74) and senior
George Heath (72-72-76) tied for 67th at 220 (+7) for the week, while senior
Ignacio Montero (84-70-72) closed out the JMU scoring in a tie for 82nd.
Playing as an individual, sophomore
Sigurður Blumenstein also tied for 82nd with rounds of 80-71-75 on the weekend.

The Dukes will take the next week off from competition, getting back to action on April 16-17, when they travel to Finkbine Golf Club in Iowa City, Iowa and compete in the Hawkeye Invitational. GolfStat will provide live results of the event.
