Mike Greene Signs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

TAMPA, Fla. – Former James Madison All-American Mike Greene has signed a rookie contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following a successful tryout during the franchise's rookie minicamp this past weekend.
Greene played in 57 career games for the Dukes, making 48 starts on the defensive line between 2017-21.
He's a two-time FCS First Team All-American, having earned the honors in each of the past two seasons. That included being a finalist for the 2020 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award, which he finished ninth in the final voting.
The 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year was a three-time All-CAA selection while also winning the 2020 Touchdown Club of Richmond Division I Defensive Lineman of the Year award.
Greene finished his JMU career with 177 career tackles with 39.0 tackles for loss, 18.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one recovery. That included a single-season, career-high 56 tackles and 12.0 TFL during his redshirt senior season.
His signing bolsters JMU's presence on the Buccaneers roster to three, as he joins Super Bowl champions Aaron Stinnie (2013-17) and Josh Wells (2009-13).
To date, seven former Dukes are on NFL rosters. Joining the Tampa trio are Ron'Dell Carter (2017-19) and Jimmy Moreland (2014, 2016-18) with the Houston Texans, Ben DiNucci (2018-19) with the Dallas Cowboys and Dean Marlowe (2010-14) with the Atlanta Falcons.
