Bryce Carter Signs with CFL's Ottawa REDBLACKS

OTTAWA, Ontario – Former James Madison defensive end Bryce Carter has signed with the Ottawa REDBLACKS out of the Canadian Football League, the franchise announced over the weekend.
Carter, who finished his collegiate career by transferring to JMU in 2021, played in all 14 games, making 13 starts at defensive end this past season.
He was selected as a Second Team FCS All-American by Stats Perform, AFCA and the Associated Press while earning First Team honors from Phil Steele. The First Team All-CAA and VaSID All-State pick had 54 tackles (28 solo) with 22.0 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and one recovery.
Carter ranked 12th nationally and second in the Colonial Athletic Association with 1.6 TFL per game. He was also fifth in the conference in total sacks. Carter recorded at least 2.0 tackles for loss in seven games and made at least a full sack in seven outings.
The Steelton, Pa., native becomes the fourth former JMU standout to be currently signed to a CFL contract, joining D'Angelo Amos, Andrew Ankrah and Rashad Robinson.
The 2022 CFL preseason kicks off on Friday, May 27, with the regular season opening up the weekend of June 9-11.
