NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced the 2022-23 women's basketball conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon, handing James Madison its 18-game slate in its first season with the league.
The Dukes will welcome Coastal Carolina to the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Dec. 29 to open conference play before renewing an in-state rivalry when Old Dominion visits Harrisonburg on Dec. 31.
January opens up with back-to-back road games at Marshall (Jan. 5) and Southern Miss (Jan. 7). The Dukes return home to host Appalachian State on Jan. 12 and Georgia State on Jan. 14. Georgia Southern then makes their way to Harrisonburg on Jan. 19 before the Dukes welcome Troy on Jan. 21. The month closes out with a pair of road games as the Dukes play Coastal Carolina (Jan. 26) and Georgia State (Jan. 28), both for the second time.
JMU's four-game road swing continues on Feb. 2 at South Alabama before heading to Georgia Southern for their second matchup against the Eagles on Feb. 4. The Dukes will then play host to Louisiana on Feb. 9 and Arkansas State on Feb. 11. JMU gets back on the road for a trio of away games at Texas State (Feb. 16), ODU (Feb. 18) and App State (Feb. 22) before ending league play at home on Feb. 24 against Marshall.
The Dukes face five conference foes just once - Southern Miss, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, Louisiana and Arkansas State. These five games all happen to be the first-ever meetings between JMU and the slated opponent.
The Sun Belt Men's & Women's Basketball Championships will take place from Tuesday, Feb. 28, to Monday, March 6, at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla. All 14 teams will qualify for the tournament.
All game times, as well as the non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date. Follow along on social media for all schedule additions and changes or at JMUSports.com.
