HARRISONBURG, Va. — Despite going down early and tying the match just before halftime, James Madison men's soccer fell to Georgia State, 3-1, in each team's Sun Belt Conference opener on Saturday night at Sentara Park.
The Dukes fall to 2-4, 0-1 while the Panthers remain unbeaten at 6-0-1, 1-0.

Tyler Clegg scored the lone goal for the Dukes and led the offense in addition to redshirt junior
Rodrigo Robles with three shots each. Freshman
Sebastian Conlon made two saves in goal for the Dukes.
How It Happened
- The JMU offense began to attack early, attempting two shots within the first three minutes of the contest that included a shot from Robles off the post.
- Georgia State took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute, as Simon Carlson fired a shot over Conlon's head.
- The Dukes responded just with a minute and 12 seconds to go in the first half, being awarded a penalty kick due to a handball by Gavin Williams in the box. Clegg fired in the equalizing goal.
- In the 48th minute, Robles had the first JMU shot of the second half saved.
- The Panthers retook the lead in the 72nd minute when Justin Mclean squeaked a goal by on a long run.
- The Dukes had a chance to equalize again in the 83rd minute, but freshman Kevin Larsson's shot came up saved.
- Mclean scored a second goal in the 87th minute to put GSU up 3-1 on a slow dribbler outside the box.
Game Notes
- JMU held the Panthers to only one corner kick all match, and just four shots in each half.

"Tonight's opener in the Sun Belt was difficult. Georgia State stuck to its game plan and executed and we conceded tough goals again. We have to do a better job to sure up the defensive side of the ball, but we did play more of our brand of soccer on the offensive side of the ball. We were unfortunate to walk away with nothing from this match.
