ATLANTA – James Madison women's soccer earned a draw with Georgia State, 0-0, on Thursday night at the GSU Soccer Complex to extend its unbeaten streak to a program record 10 matches.
The Dukes drew for the fourth straight match, moving their record to 6-2-8 overall and 3-0-5 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Panthers moved to 8-3-5, 4-2-2 SBC.
Three Dukes took at least three shots, led by junior
Shea Collins with a career-tying four shots. Redshirt senior
Alexandra Blom moved into a tie for second in solo shutouts for a JMU career with her 21
st, as she made three saves.
How It Happened
- The two sides played an even first half with neither side getting much of an upper hand on the other.
- JMU had their best chance on a shot from redshirt senior Brittany Munson, who took a career-high three shots. She fired a shot in the 40th minute from the top of the box that forced Jaddah Foos to make a diving stop.
- At the halftime break, the score was scoreless with only six combined shots.
- The second half was a tale of a different story, with both offenses beginning to click.
- Foos had to make another diving stop to prevent a JMU goal, preventing junior Amanda Attanasi from scoring from about 10 yards out.
- Redshirt senior Suwaitbatu Mohammed, the third Duke to have at least three shots, had a pair of good looks in the 70th and 75th minutes, but both were saved.
- JMU had a final chance to get on the board, as Foos came out on her line and gave senior Sammie Sipes an angled open look on the goal. Her shot would go just wide, however.
Quick Facts
- The Dukes outshot the Panthers 17-7, including 13-5 in the second half. JMU also took six of its seven corner kicks in the second half.
- The 17 shots by the Dukes are the most they've taken since attempting 21 against East Carolina on Sept. 19, 2021.
