FORT WORTH, Texas – James Madison quarterback Jordan McCloud tacked on a national honor to his ledger, as he was named the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week, the Davey O'Brien Foundation announced Tuesday.
This accolade comes in addition to his third Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor that came Monday.
McCloud accounted for six total touchdowns, tying his career high in JMU's 56-14 demolition of Coastal Carolina over the weekend.
The signal caller threw for 324 yards with a career-best five passing touchdowns. He also rushed for another to end the regular season with 40 total touchdowns to lead the JMU offensive.
Entering the postseason, McCloud leads the Sun Belt in total offense (310.3) and pass efficiency (167.45) while ranking second in passing average (284.4) and passing touchdowns (32).
Just two weeks ago, McCloud was selected as one of 20 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, a first for the JMU football program.
McCloud and the Dukes will find out their postseason fate for Bowl Season on Sunday, Dec. 3 during the bowl selection show from 12-4 p.m. on ESPN.
