HARRISONBURG, Va. -- James Madison baseball clawed itself back from a five-run deficit and used a walk off grand slam off the bat of sophomore
Fenwick Trimble to earn the 7-5 win Sunday afternoon and sweep the series against Cornell in non-conference action at Veterans Memorial Park.
Â
The Dukes move to 4-3, winners of their last four, while the Big Red fall to 0-3.
Â
Redshirt junior
Matt Kleinfelter earned the win for the Dukes, pitching a scoreless ninth inning and adding a strikeout. Redshirt freshman
T.R. Williams earned a no-decision as the starter, pitching four innings and striking out eight while allowing two runs and scattering three hits. At the plate, Trimble was a triple shy of the cycle behind a 3-for-4 day with a career-high six RBI's.

How It Happened
Fourth Inning
Cornell broke the scoreless tie on a two-run homer by Nathan Waugh after Max Jensen led the inning off with a walk.
Â
Fifth Inning
The Big Red doubled their lead in the fifth on another two-run shot, this time from Jakobi Davis and a one-out single by TJ Swidorski.
Â
Sixth Inning
The long ball was the ideal run scorer for Cornell, as the team hit its third homer of the game in the sixth to make it 5-0 in favor of the visitors. After back-to-back groundouts to lead off the inning, Matt Barnhorst rocketed a no-doubter over the left field wall.
Â
In the home half of the sixth, the Dukes were able to get a run back on a Trimble double to score redshirt senior
Kyle Novak from first after drawing a walk to make it 5-1.
Â
Eighth Inning
The Dukes started to get the momentum rolling in the eighth, after redshirt senior
Trevon Dabney and Novak both reach based. Trimble then knocked in Dabney on a single before getting tagged out along the base paths trying to extend the hit to a double. Graduate
Jack Cone drew a walk the next at bat and was followed by sophomore
Ryan Dooley who singled into the gap, plating Novak and Cone to make it a two-run game at 5-3.
Â
Ninth Inning
Freshman
Mike Mancini drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the ninth and ended up on third the next at bat, as redshirt junior
Jacob Steinberg doubled down the left field line. After a flyout and a strikeout, Novak was able to work a five-pitch walk to load the bases for Trimble. Trimble then took the first pitch he saw over the right center wall, giving the Dukes their first walk off home run since
Fox Semones against Delaware on March 25, 2017.
