HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison fell, 16-3, in the series opener against Coastal Carolina on Friday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference baseball at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes fall to 11-8, 0-1 SBC while the Chanticleers move to 11-5, 1-0 SBC.

Sophomore
Todd Mozoki started on the mound for JMU, going four innings and striking out three while giving up eight runs with only one of the eight being earned. Freshman
Mike Mancini led the team at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Jacob Morrison earned the win for Coastal behind seven innings of work.

How It Happened
Second Inning
JMU got on the board first with a trio of runs, started by redshirt senior
Trevon Dabney leading off with a single and stealing second. After a walk and a fielder's choice, Mancini singled into center to score redshirt junior
Jacob Steinberg before advancing to second on the throw to put runners on second and third. Two batters later, graduate
Jack Cone singled in both Mancini and graduate
Jaylon Lee for a 3-0 lead.

Third Inning
Coastal quickly responded with six runs in the third. With two outs and a runner on third due to a wide throw on a pickoff attempt at second, a single from Derek Bender scored the first CCU run. A misfielded grounder at short allowed the inning to continue, where the Chanticleers used a trio of singles to score five more runs and a 6-3 score.

Fourth Inning
Two runs were added to the scoreboard for the visitors, utilizing an RBI groundout and an RBI single that a jumping
Mason Dunaway was unable to pull down.

Seventh Inning
The score was increased to 9-3 on the Chanticleers' sixth run-scoring single of the game.

Eight Inning
With two outs and a runner on third, a catcher's interference call kept the inning alive for Coastal. After loading the bases the next at bat on a hit by pitch, the visitors made it an. 11-3 game on a two-run single.

Ninth Inning
Kameron Guangorena and Nick Lucky both homered to add five runs to Coastal's scoring, making it 16-3.
