HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison's offense erupted for 19 runs against VCU on Wednesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park in non-conference baseball to close out a 10-game homestand in which the Dukes went 8-2.

The Dukes move to an overall record of 8-5 while the Rams fall to 3-10.

Redshirt junior
CJ Czerwinski earned the win, starting and going a career-high tying six innings while striking out a career-high six batters. Graduate
Jaylon Lee and sophomore
Coleman Calabrese and
Fenwick Trimble combined to go 9-for 16 at the plate with a home run, two walks, four doubles, seven runs scored and 10 RBI's.

JMU scored multiple runs in each inning that they scored in, scoring in five of the eight they hit in.

How It Happened
First Inning
Two runs went on the board early for VCU, putting the first two batters on with a single and a walk before a double from Will Carlone and a sacrifice fly from Brandon Eike plated the runs.

Graduate
Jack Cone immediately got a run back for the Dukes in the home half of the inning, homering to lead off the inning. Redshirt junior
Jacob Steinberg then tied the game with a sacrifice fly after the bases were loaded from a single and a pair of walks. Calabrese gave JMU the lead three batters later with a single for a 3-2 lead.

Second Inning
The Dukes scored their first of two five-run innings in the second, as Trimble accounted for three of the runs after doubling in Cone and sophomore
Jason Schiavone and then scored on a wild pitch two at bats later. Lee used his first of three RBI singles to plate another run and then came around to score on Calabrese's double the next at bat for the 8-2 lead.

Third Inning
Cone led off the inning with a walk and was followed by a double off the bat from Trimble. Redshirt senior
Kyle Novak then roped a double to score both runners and make the score 10-2 through three innings.

Fifth Inning
Five more runs were scored in the fifth, as the Dukes put the first six batters of the inning on. Three of the six batters knocked in runs with Steinberg and Calabrese doubling in runs and Lee singling a run in. Schiavone and freshman
Aidan McDonald also plated runs on a sacrifice fly and a single, respectively, to put the hosts up 15-2.

Sixth Inning
A throwing error and double put runners in scoring position with one down to allow VCU to go back-to-back with a sacrifice fly and a single to add two runs and cut the lead to 15-4.

Seventh Inning
VCU scored a fifth run on a pair of doubles to score a run and make it 15-5.

JMU responded with four in the bottom of the inning, beginning with Trimble's two-run homer for his fifth of the season. Redshirt sophomore
Grant Painter and Lee both singled in runs to push the lead to 19-5.

Game Notes
- JMU hit .455 (15-for-33) with runners on, .467 (7-for-15 with two outs and .520 (13-for-25) with runners in scoring position.
- A combined eleven doubles were hit by the two teams, with seven of them coming off JMU bats. Coleman Calabrese, Kyle Novak and Fenwick Trimble all hit two doubles.
- Trevon Dabney was hit by a pitch for the 55th time in his career, moving him into a tie for the program record with David Herbek (2008-11).
- Calabrese had his first career three-hit game and now has three straight games of multiple hits.

The Dukes hit the road for five straight games before returning home to open Sun Belt Conference play. They will be back on the field at USC Upstate for a three-game set on March 10-12 with the series opener starting at 4 p.m. on Friday.
