HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball collected a 4-0 win over Troy to even the series at one game apiece on Saturday morning at Veterans Memorial Park.
JMU improved to 23-13 overall and 7-7 in Sun Belt Conference play while Troy fell to 29-12-1 with a 10-3-1 record in Sun Belt Conference action.
Sophomore
Lexi Rogers pitched five innings of impressive relief work from the circle and recorded her second win of the season.
Graduate student
Hannah Shifflett led the offense with a home run, one run scored, and two RBI's, while freshman
KK Mathis followed with a home run, one run scored and one RBI.
Junior
Reed Butler, sophomores
Kylee Gleason and
Jasmine Hall, and freshman
Bella Henzler each added a hit apiece.
How It Happened
- Mathis tallied the Dukes' first run with a home run to center field in the bottom of the third inning.
- Shifflett kept the momentum going in the third inning with a two-run home to put the Dukes ahead by three runs.
- Butler drove in JMU's final run from a single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning.
