HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison baseball dropped the series finale, 14-3, against South Alabama in Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday morning at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes fall to 16-11, 3-4 SBC while the Jaguars improve to 12-16, 3-6 SBC.

Graduate Jack Cone started for the Dukes, going two-and-a-third innings and struck out one while giving up five runs. At the plate, redshirt senior Kyle Novak led the way by going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Mitchell Heer went the full seven innings for the Jaguars to earn the win, scattering five hits and striking out three.

How It Happened
Third Inning
South Alabama used a solo home run, a two-run homer and a three-run shot to score first and take a six-run lead.

The Dukes got a run back in bottom of the inning, as sophomore Jason Schiavone roped his second home run of the season to make the score 6-1.

Fourth Inning
With bases loaded and two down, Joseph Sullivan cleared the bases with a triple off the wall in left center field to extend the USA lead to 9-1.

In the home half of the inning, the Dukes led the inning off with a pair of singles before a fielder's choice put runners on first and third. Graduate Jaylon Lee then stepped to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to make it 9-2, scoring Novak.

Fifth Inning
USA scored four runs in the fifth, utilizing a fielder's choice and a pair of singles to plate the runs and extend the lead to 13-2.

Sixth Inning
Sophomore Fenwick Trimble touched all the bases for a ninth time this season, as he took a 1-0 pitch over the wall in left field.

Seventh Inning
A run scored by the Jaguars on a wild pitch extended the lead to 14-3 and secured the run rule win.
