HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman pitcher
Kylah Berry led James Madison softball to a 2-0 victory over App State on Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes improved to 25-16 with a 10-9 mark in Sun Belt play, while the Mountaineers fell to 22-24, sitting at 3-14 against league competition.

Berry was stellar in the circle for JMU. She tossed seven innings of scoreless work, noted one strikeout, and yielded three hits.

KK Mathis led the offense with two hits, one run, and one RBI, while graduate student
Hannah Shifflett also tallied two hits and scored one run.

Bella Henzler also added a hit and one RBI in the contest

How It Happened:
- The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when Mathis knocked a home run to center field.
- Later in the sixth, Henzler doubled to score Shifflett to push the Dukes' second run across.Â

Due to weather concerns, JMU will now play App State in a doubleheader Saturday, April 29 at 12 and 2:30 p.m. Senior Day festivities will take place before the first game tomorrow.
