BOONE, N.C. – Trailing with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, James Madison baseball rattled off eight runs to tie the game and then take the lead as they took down App State, 18-9, on Saturday afternoon at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium to even up the series.

The Dukes moved to 23-19 and 9-9 in Sun Belt Conference play as the Mountaineers dropped to 20-19, 10-9 SBC.

CJ Czerwinski earned his second win of the year for the Dukes behind two scoreless innings of work with a strikeout. Redshirt freshman
T.R. Williams picked up his first save after three innings of work and four strikeouts. Redshirt junior
Mason Dunaway led at the plate going 3-for-4 with a home run, two walks, and four run scored and RBI's. He tied his career-high in hits and RBI's and set a career-high in runs scored.

How It Happened
Second Inning
The Mountaineers got on the board first with a five-run inning, drawing a pair of walks to start the inning before a single, a double and a sacrifice fly were consecutively hit to score three runs. With bases loaded, a single and then an ensuing error allowed two more to score.

Third Inning
Graduate
Jack Cone led off the third with his third long ball of the year to get the Dukes on the board. Sophomore
Fenwick Trimble and Dunaway both drew walks before Trimble touched the plate on a single from redshirt senior
Trevon Dabney to make it 5-2 after a review reversed the call to safe.

Fourth Inning
The teams combined for seven runs in the fourth inning. After the first two batters of the inning got on and were each moved over a base on a sacrifice bunt, Dunaway singled into center field to drive in one. Trimble followed it up with his 19
th double of the season to make it a one-run game before freshman
Mike Mancini gave the Dukes the lead at 6-5 with a ground-rule double.

Andrew Terrell led off the inning for Apps with a solo shot to tie the game, before Hayden Cross hit a two-run blast later in the inning to give the hosts an 8-6 lead.

Seventh Inning
JMU sent 12 batters to the plate in the seventh to plate eight runs after recording two outs within the first three batters of the inning. Cone got the scoring started with a double to score sophomore
Ryan Dooley, who doubled himself in between the two JMU outs. The next at bat saw the Dukes tie the game at eight on a Dunaway single to score Cone.

After back-to-back walks, Dabney gave the Dukes the lead with a bases clearing double for his season-high fourth RBI of the game before continuing to third on an error. Redshirt senior
Kyle Novak then walked ahead of a single from sophomore
Jason Schiavone to score Dabney. Novak scored on a wild pitch before graduate
Jaylon Lee capped the scoring with a pinch hit single to bring home Schiavone for a 14-8 lead.

Eighth Inning
The Dukes added a run in the eighth after Dunaway and Trimble drew walks before Mancini singled into right field to score Dunaway to make it 15-8.

App State got a run back in the home half of the inning on a groundout to cut the deficit to 15-9.

Ninth Inning
Schiavone led off the inning with a solo shot, his seventh of the season, to push the lead back to seven at 16-9. Dunaway then homered as well for the first time this season, a two-run blast to increase the lead to 18-9.

Game Notes
- The eight runs in one inning are tied for the most in an inning this season. The Dukes also scored eight runs at VCU on March 14.
- Jack Cone had a season-high three hits and was a triple away from the cycle.
- Overall, the Dukes hit .467 (7-for-15) with nine RBI's with two outs in the game.
- JMU drew 12 walks and was hit by a pitch another four times.
