Hevynne Bristow has joined the James Madison women's basketball team for the 2023-24 season, Head Coach
Sean O'Regan announced on Wednesday.
Bristow comes to Harrisonburg after spending the previous three seasons at Ohio State. This past season, the senior was a member of a Buckeyes squad that made its first NCAA Elite Eight appearance since 1993. The guard appeared in 29 games at OSU, averaging 3.0 points and 3.6 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per contest. Prior to her time in Columbus, the Brooklyn, N.Y. native spent a season in Providence where she averaged 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
"Hevynne is a special player, person, and athlete," said O'Regan. "She got to see us up close and in person when we played Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament, and she could really see herself here with us. I have watched her since she was a junior in high school and her potential is off the charts. I'm super excited to get her on the court with us and help her get to where she belongs."

Career Highlights: Played in 29 games, averaging 10.5 minutes per game as a senior… Helped Ohio State to its first Elite Eight appearance in 30 years… Averaged 3.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game, shooting 48.0% (36-of-75) from the floor and 38.9% (7-of-18) from long-range… Posted career-highs in nearly every category – scoring (3.6 ppg), rebounding (3.0 rpg), assists (20), blocks (10), steals (16), field goal percentage (.480), three-point percentage (38.9), and playing time (10.5 mpg)… Scored in double figures twice, including a career-high 11 points against Wright State (11/23)… Totaled a career-high eight rebounds on four occasions – against McNeese State (11/20), North Alabama (11/27), Illinois (1/8) and Northwestern (1/19)… Had a career-high three assists against Oregon (12/21) and at Nebraska (1/14)… Played in 11 games, making one start during her junior year… Averaged 3.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game… Matched her career-high nine points, two assists and three blocks against Norfolk State (11/14)… Grabbed a season-high five rebounds twice – against Bucknell (11/10) and Alabama State (12/15)… Played in four games and scored a total of five points in her first season with the Buckeyes… Scored her first OSU points versus Illinois (1/7) to go along with a steal, assist and a pair of rebounds in a season-high nine minutes… Appeared in 29 games with three starts in her freshman season at Providence in 2019-20… Averaged 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in her one year with the Friars… Recorded a season-high nine points and seven rebounds versus Villanova on Dec. 29.
