CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Three James Madison pitchers combined to hold Marshall to five hits on its way to a series-clinching 7-3 win on Saturday afternoon at GoMart Ballpark in Sun Belt Conference baseball.

The Dukes improved to 26-20, 11-10 SBC while the Thundering Herd sit now at 16-28, 5-18 SBC after their sixth straight defeat.

Redshirt junior
Matt Kleinfelter improved to 5-0 on the season for the Dukes and redshirt freshman
T.R. Williams earned his second save with four scoreless innings of work and five strikeouts. Graduate
Jack Cone led at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two walks and two runs scored.

First Inning
Marshall struck first after a double and a walk led off the inning and was followed by a three-run homer to batters later.

Fifth Inning
JMU produced its own three-run inning to tie the game, using a pair of singles and a wild pitch to do it. The Dukes used back-to-back singles to put runners in scoring position before sophomore
Coleman Calabrese hit the third straight single to knock in classmate
Jason Schiavone. Sophomore
Ryan Dooley then made it a one-run game by scoring on a wild pitch to precede Cone hitting a fourth straight single of the inning to score Calabrese and tie the game at three.

Sixth Inning
The Dukes took the lead after redshirt senior
Trevon Dabney doubled and moved to third on classmate
Kyle Novak's infield single. Schiavone then grounded out to the pitcher to knock in Dabney.

Seventh Inning
The lead was pushed to two runs when Cone scored after getting on by a walk and moving to third before touching home on a throw down to second base to nab redshirt junior
Mason Dunaway. JMU led 5-3 after the run.

Ninth Inning
With two outs, the Dukes added a pair of runs beginning with a double from Cone. Dunaway then singled Cone in and moved to second on the throw home before trading spots with Trimble on his RBI double to make it 7-3.

Game Notes
- Every JMU starter reached base safely with eight of the nine getting a base hit.
- The Dukes have won 15 games on the year when the opponents scored first, good for a .536 win percentage.
- Fenwick Trimble hit his 20th double of the season to retake the Sun Belt lead. It is the first 20-double season for a Duke since 2011 and is the 11th 20-double season in program history.
