TEMPE, Az. – James Madison finished the tennis year ranking fifth as a team, while redshirt senior
Kylie Moulin was the 13th-ranked singles competitor in the 2023 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Women's Atlantic Region rankings, sponsored by Tennis-Point.
Â
This is the second time in three years JMU finished a season in the top five of the Atlantic Region, as it was third in 2021. Under former head coach
Shelley Jaudon, JMU ranked top 10 in the region in all four years the organization unveiled a regional ranking, with 2020 excluded.
Â
The Dukes completed their first season in the Sun Belt Conference with a 15-8 overall record and 9-1 mark in conference play. They reached the Sun Belt title match after capturing wins over South Alabama and Marshall down in Peachtree City, Ga., back in April. In years JMU has been able to compete for a conference championship, it reached the tournament final in four straight trips, winning the crown in 2019 and 2021.
Â
On the singles side, Moulin, who competed on court one, was a First Team All-Sun Belt selection after going 20-10 with a 13-8 mark in dual-match play. She finished 8-2 in SBC regular-season matches and won nine of 13 total matches versus conference foes for the entire year.
Â
This is Moulin's third straight season finishing with a regional ranking and her second in singles, as she was 18th in 2022. She, along with former teammate
Jona Roka, were 10th in the Atlantic Region doubles rankings in 2021.
