Seven Dukes Named Pro Football Focus Preseason All-Sun Belt

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison had seven players represented on the Pro Football Focus Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, including four earning First Team status, the organization announced Monday.

Leading the way for JMU were offensive lineman Nick Kidwell, defensive lineman James Carpenter, linebacker Jailin Walker and punter Ryan Hanson, who each took a spot on the First Team.

Linebacker Taurus Jones was a Second Team Preseason All-SBC pick, while both offensive lineman Tanner Morris and defensive lineman Immanuel Bush claimed Third Team accolades.

This is the third preseason team that both Kidwell and Carpenter were selected First Team All-SBC, while Hanson earned the honor for the second time this summer. Additionally, Jones was a First Team pick twice previously, while Walker claimed his initial First Team spot by PFF.

Of the seven honored, four were selected to the 2022 All-Sun Belt Team last fall. Kidwell and Carpenter were both Second Team All-Sun Belt selections, Jones was named to the Third Team and Walker was an Honorable Mention pick. In addition, Hanson was named Third Team All-Sun Belt in 2021 while punting for Arkansas State.

The official Sun Belt preseason all-conference team will be unveiled on Monday, July 24, ahead of Sun Belt Conference Media Days, which is set for July 25-26 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel.
