EDMONTON, Alberta – Former James Madison quarterback Todd Centeio has signed a pro contract with the Edmonton Elks out of the Canadian Football League, the franchise announced Thursday.
Centeio transferred to JMU for his final season in 2022 and made an immediate impact, starting 10 games for the Dukes.

Voted the 2022-23 JMU Male Athlete of the Year, he threw for 2,697 yards and 25 touchdowns with just five interceptions while producing 393 rushing yards and seven more touchdowns, accounting for 3,090 yards and 32 total touchdowns.

The West Palm Beach, Fla., native ranks top-10 in JMU single-season history in five categories, including seventh in passing touchdowns and eighth in both passing yards and total offense.

Centeio was named 2022 Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year and was later voted Virginia Sports Information Directors State Offensive Player of the Year. During his senior campaign, he was tabbed to the midseason watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Manning Award and CFPA National Performer of the Year while being selected to the Davey O'Brien QB Class of 2022.
