COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina scored in each half to hand James Madison men's soccer its first setback in Sun Belt Conference play, as the Dukes fell, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium.
The Dukes dropped to 7-2-5 overall and 3-1-2 in league play, while the Gamecocks improved to 8-3-2, 3-3 SBC.
Redshirt senior Evan Southern paced the JMU offense with three shots, while junior Sebastian Conlon made two saves in goal.
Quoting Head Coach Paul Zazenski
"Not our night tonight. The guys fought to get back in the game going down 2-0 and we had a lot of the ball and a lot of chances in the second half. South Carolina played well and finished out the game in the last seconds. We have to learn from this game and be better moving forward."
