DUKES TRAVEL TO VILLANOVA FOR SUNDAY MATCHUP
- James Madison will head to Villanova for its penultimate non-conference game on Dec. 15 before starting league play. Action inside Finneran Pavillion is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will stream on FloCollege.
- Last time out, No. 4 Texas scored 24 points off of 24 JMU turnovers and shot 54.0 percent (34-of-63), including 52.9 percent (9-for-17) from three, to down the Dukes 93-62 in front of 3,361, the fourth-largest crowd to see a women's game at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- Ro Scott scored a game-high 22 points off the bench, while Peyton McDaniel and Ashanti Barnes each finished with 12.
- JMU owns three top-50 rankings nationally: three-point percentage defense (40th - 25.5), rebounds per game (T-44th - 42.00) and defensive rebounds per game (49th - 28.3).
- Villanova made eight of its first 11 shots for an early 19-7 lead and never looked back, earning a 75-65 win at Delaware on Wednesday. Five Wildcats score in double figures: Maddie Webber (17), Bronagh Power-Cassidy (16), Lara Edmanson (14), Jasmine Bascoe (12) and Kaitlyn Orihel (10).
SUN BELT PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Ro Scott picked up Sun Belt Player of the Week honors on Dec. 10, the first weekly award for Scott in her collegiate career. It also marked the second consecutive week a Duke has earned the distinction, with Peyton McDaniel earning the title on Dec. 3.
- The graduate student opened the week with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists in a 55-42 win at VCU last Thursday. Then on Sunday, Scott produced a game-high 22 points with an 8-of-15 (.533) clip from the field against No. 4 Texas. The Earle, Ark. native also went a perfect 5-for-5 from the line and dished out a team-best three assists against the nationally ranked Longhorns.
THE DUKES VS. THE BIG EAST
- James Madison owns a 15-12 (.556) mark versus current BIG EAST opponents.
- The Dukes own perfect marks against Providence (3-0), Butler (1-0), Seton Hall (1-0) and Xavier (1-0).
- The last time JMU faced a BIG EAST foe, Peyton McDaniel registered a double-double (22 points, 13 rebounds), while Steph Ouderkirk scored a career-high 16 as the Dukes rolled past Xavier, 81-54, on Nov. 11, 2023, at the Cintas Center.
ROAD DOGS
- Since joining the Sun Belt in 2022, the Dukes are 30-14 (.682) outside the friendly confines of the Atlantic Union Bank Center, highlighted by a 16-4 (.800) mark in the team's inaugural season in the new conference. The 12 true road wins that season tied the program record with the 2006-07 and 2014-15 seasons with marks of 12-5 and 12-1, respectively.
