HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's basketball welcomes transfers Ja'Quoia Jones-Brown (Long Beach State), Trinity Moore (Stephen F. Austin), and Trynce Taylor (Kennesaw State) for the upcoming season, as announced by Head Coach
Sean O'Regan on Tuesday afternoon.
"I'm really proud of our staff for the work they did, both being thorough and quick with our assessment and recruitment of these three players," said O'Regan. "We feel outstanding with this class and their potential impact."
Jones-Brown makes her way to Harrisonburg after wrapping up her sophomore season at Long Beach State. This past year, the 5-6 guard started in 29 out of 30 games, leading the team in scoring (17.6 ppg), rebounding (6.7 rpg), field goal percentage (42.1%), and free throw percentage (82.4%), while logging a league-best 37.4 minutes per contest on her way to being named an All-Big West honorable mention.
O'Regan on Jones-Brown:
"Ja'Quoia is a great person who loves the game. She's a versatile scoring guard who can really light it up. We are excited to have her join our family."
The Atlanta native recorded five double-doubles in 2025-26, including a 23-point, 17-rebound performance against Hope International (NAIA) in non-conference play. She tallied 11 performances with 20 or more points, scoring a career-high 29 points against Sacramento State and UC Riverside.
As a freshman, Jones-Brown averaged 7.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, playing in all 30 games with eight starts to pick up Big West All-Freshman Team honors. Before her time in the collegiate ranks, she was a three-time all-state first team selection and a two-time all-region honoree at Westlake High School in Atlanta.
Moore brings veteran experience to the Dukes' roster, appearing in 104 games across her stops at Oral Roberts (2021-23) and SFA (2023-25), averaging 7.3 points and 4.0 boards per game. In her last season as a Ladyjack, the 6-0 forward started all 35 games, producing six double-doubles as she averaged career bests in scoring (11.7 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg).
O'Regan on Moore:
"Trinity is going to bring valuable experience and leadership to our team. She's a proven scorer and winner, and most importantly, a wonderful person. We were thrilled to be able to get Trinity to join the family."
The Oklahoma City native helped lead her team to a Southland Conference Tournament Title in 2025, pacing Stephen F. Austin in points (14), rebounds (10), and blocks (3) in the Ladjacks' 65-57 victory over Southeastern Louisiana. Moore was named the tournament's MVP after averaging 15.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game, while shooting 52.0% from the field, 41.7% from three, and 88.2% from the free throw line.
Trynce Taylor is coming off a strong redshirt sophomore campaign at Kennesaw State in which she played in all 30 games, starting in 27. The 6-2 forward averaged 9.7 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds per outing, while pacing the Owls from the field at 49.8%.
O'Regan on Taylor:
"We are elated to announce Trynce is joining our family. She fills a big need for us in our front court. She will be great for us on the glass and help fill in for some of our lost scoring. Her potential is off the charts."
Taylor registered two double-double efforts in 2025-26, highlighted by producing career highs of 20 points and 17 rebounds against Jax State. Her 150 defense rebounds this past season rank ninth in KSU history, while her 5.0 defensive boards per game tied for 10th all-time.
Prior to being sidelined for the 2024-25 season due to a lower-body injury, the Alpharetta, Ga. native was a major contributor as a freshman, averaging 7.5 points and 5.0 rebounds, appearing in all 30 games with 11 starts. The ASUN All-Freshman Team selection led the Owls in field goal percentage (50.0%) and finished second on the team in steals (37). Taylor posted a pair of double-doubles, with her first being a 19-point, 12-rebound outing at Mississippi State.
Taylor was a standout player at Saint Francis High School, achieving 1,000 career points and guiding the Knights to a state championship as a senior, being named a McDonald's All-American Nominee in the process.
Jones-Brown, Moore, and Taylor join incoming freshmen Reagan Edsell, Demi Gilliam, Maddie Leach, and Kinley Lewis.
