Four Dukes Named to FBS All-ECAC Team

DANBURY, Conn. – Following its first bowl victory, four James Madison football standouts were named to the 2024 FBS All-ECAC Team, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced.
Offensive lineman Pat McMurtie was selected All-ECAC offense while the trio of defensive lineman Eric O'Neill, defensive lineman Khairi Manns and cornerback Terrence Spence were tabbed All-ECAC defense.
This is the first All-ECAC honor for all four athletes, who aided the Dukes in finishing 9-4 and a victory in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 18.
McMurtrie, a First Team All-Sun Belt honoree, started all 13 games at right tackle this season, giving up zero sacks and ranking as the highest rated tackle in the Sun Belt Conference. He's helped the offense lead the country in fewest interceptions (4) while ranking top 30 in scoring offense (33.3) and rushing offense (191.5).
O'Neill wrapped up the season as one of the nation's leaders in sacks and tackles for loss, as he ranks fourth in total sacks (13.0) and tied for sixth in tackles for loss (18.5). The First Team All-Sun Belt defensive end had 52 total tackles and added 16 quarterback hurries, one pick-six and three breakups.
Manns, a Second Team All-Sun Belt pick, was also a force on the opposite end of the line, is tied for 17th nationally in sacks (9.0). Manns finished the year with 67 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, two recoveries, eight hurries and two breakups. His final sack was arguably the biggest of the year, as he forced a strip sack and recovered it in the Boca Raton Bowl late in the fourth quarter.
Spence, a First Team All-Sun Belt selection, ranks tied for third in the nation and tied for the Sun Belt lead in interceptions (5). One of his interceptions was a pick-six, while he also tallied 38 tackles, a half tackle for loss, one forced fumble, seven breakups and a pair of blocked kicks.
