HARRISONBURG, Va. – Georgia State out-rebounded James Madison 48-37 for a 73-62 road win on Thursday night inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center in Sun Belt Conference women's basketball action.

The Panthers (15-9, 9-4 SBC) shot 51.5 percent (17-for-33) from the field compared to JMU's (17-9, 9-4 SBC) 32.3 percent (10-for-31) clip in the second half after GSU trailed 33-30 at the break.

Peyton McDaniel led all players with 21 points on 8-of-18 (.444) shooting and knocked down three triples. Redshirt junior
Annalicia Goodman finished with nine points and six rebounds in her third start of the season. Classmate
Jamia Hazell dished out a team-best four assists and tied her career-high of three steals, while junior
Ashanti Barnes led the Dukes with seven rebounds.
Mikyla Tolivert notched 20 points and a team-best five assists. Mya Williams had 15 points, while Alyssa Phillip wrangled in eight rebounds to pace all players.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- The Dukes opened the game with a 6-2 lead, highlighted by three consecutive baskets.
- GSU fought back to make it 10-10 at the media timeout.
- Mya Williams scored eight points, while the Panthers shot 3-for-7 (.429) from three to take an 18-14 edge after one.
- Goodman registered eight points in the frame on 4-of-5 (.800).
Second Quarter
- Georgia State held a six-point advantage (22-16) at the 7:36 mark.
- McDaniel knocked down three consecutive triples to help put the Dukes ahead 29-28 halfway through the period.
- JMU held the Panthers scoreless for the final 2:59 to take a 33-30 lead at the intermission.
- McDaniel scored 11 points in the frame, while the Dukes made 8-of-15 (.533) from the field.
Third Quarter
- The Panthers took a 44-38 advantage at the media timeout.
- Sophomore Chloe Sterling converted on an and-one opportunity to give the Dukes a 52-51 edge with 1:15 to go.
- GSU responded with a triple from Tolivert to make it 54-52 Panthers heading into the final quarter.
- Redshirt junior Olivia Mullins scored six points in the period.
Fourth Quarter
- James Madison never regained the lead and was outscored 19-10 in the final quarter.
- Georgia State shot 8-for-19 (.421) from the field, compared to JMU's 3-for-12 (.250) effort.
- GSU finished on a 6-0 run to come away with the 73-62 victory.

GAME NOTES
- James Madison leads the all-time series, 13-3, but has lost the last three meetings.
- The Dukes lost the rebounding battle for the fourth time this season and the second time against GSU. Additionally, the Panthers' 48 rebounds are the second-most by a JMU opponent this season. Michigan State brought in 50 against James Madison on Nov. 11.
- JMU has lost consecutive games for the first time since last season. Previously, the team had not fallen in back-to-back games since dropping contests at Coastal Carolina (79-64, Jan. 26) and Georgia State (72-64, Jan. 28).
- The Panthers are the only Sun Belt team to defeat JMU in three straight meetings since the Dukes joined the league in 2022.Â
- James Madison tied its season-high of 10 steals against a Division I team after coming away with 10 versus Georgia Southern on Jan. 18.
