FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 3 Arkansas used a four-run fourth inning and a six-run sixth inning to push past James Madison baseball on Saturday afternoon to earn the run-ruled 15-5 win at Baum-Walker Stadium.
The Dukes dropped to 0-2 while the Razorbacks moved to 2-0.
Junior
Ryan Dooley led the bats for JMU, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Sophomore
Max Kuhle made his first career start and set career-highs of 3.1 innings and five strikeouts as he gave up three runs (two earned).
How It Happened
Third Inning
A leadoff solo shot from Ty Wilmsmeyer gave Arkansas the first lead of the game.
Fourth Inning
Utilizing Dooley's second single of the game, a hit by pitch and a walk, the Dukes loaded the bases with two down. Junior
Jason Schiavone drew a walk to follow redshirt senior
Jacob Steinberg's to score Dooley and tie the game at one.
UA responded by sending nine to the plate in the home half of the inning, scoring four runs on a solo home run, back-to-back run scoring singles and a bases loaded walk to lead 5-1.
Fifth Inning
The Razorbacks added a pair of runs to their lead on a bases loaded, two-run single to increase the score to 7-1.
Sixth Inning
Back-to-back singles led off the inning for the Dukes, with redshirt senior
Jacob Steinberg hitting the third single of the inning to score Dooley. After a walk loaded the bases, sophomore
Wyatt Peifer laid down a sacrifice bunt to score another run and made it 7-3. Sophomore
Jack Cannizzaro capped the four-run inning with a single to center, bringing home two runs and making it a two-run game at 7-5.
Arkansas responded with six runs to make the score 13-5. The Hogs used a bases loaded single to score one, before scoring five runs across four straight at bats.
Eight Inning
After loading the bases, Wehiwa Aloy hit a two-run double to walk off the Dukes, 15-5, via the 10-run rule.
