Terrence Edwards Jr. was named a finalist for both the Lute Olson National Player of the Year and Lou Henson National Player of the Year awards, CollegeInsider.com announced on Thursday.

The Lute Olson National Player of the Year Award is presented annually to the top player across Division I college basketball, while the Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball.

Over the past week, the redshirt junior was named the Sun Belt Conference's Player of the Year and earned District 23 First Team honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.Â

Edwards Jr. led the Sun Belt Conference in scoring with an average of 17.4 points per game, along with contributing 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He was also selected for the First Team All-Sun Belt.

Additionally, Edwards Jr. received Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors multiple times and was recognized as National Players of the Week during the season. The Atlanta native helped lead James Madison to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013, where they will face No. 5 seed Wisconsin at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn on Friday.

Both awards will be announced in Phoenix, Az., site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
