HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball secured a Sun Belt series victory with a 6-1 win over Georgia State on Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

JMU improved to 20-13 and 4-4 in Sun Belt action on six runs and seven hits, while Georgia State dropped to 9-23 and 1-7 in league play on one run, seven hits, and three errors. Â

Jasmine Hall led the Dukes at the plate with a 1-for-3 outing that included her fourth home run of the season and a walk, while
KK Mathis recorded her 14th multi-hit game as the sophomore finished 2-for-3.
Kirsten Fleet picked up the win in 4.0 innings of relief, scattering three hits and striking out seven batters.

Hallie Hall went 2-for-3 with a walk, while
Reed Butler extended her hitting streak to 13 straight games, going 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Butler also reached base safely for the 27th consecutive game.Â
Madison Edwards went 1-for-1 and recorded her team-leading 18th walk of the season. Overall, the Dukes recorded seven walks, the second-highest team total of 2024.

How It Happened
- Alissa Humphrey struck out the side in the top of the first, stranding two Panther baserunners.
- The Dukes loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first, bringing across three runs on a fielder's choice, a bases-loaded walk from Payton List, and an error from Georgia State.
- JMU capitalized on the Panthers' second error of the contest in the bottom of the second, extending its lead to 4-0.Â
- H.Hall scored on GSU's third error of the contest in the fifth inning, extending the Dukes' lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
- Georgia State got on the board in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Carolyn Deady.
- J.Hall's fourth homer of the season capped the scoring for JMU in the bottom of the sixth, giving the Dukes a 6-1 lead.
- Fleet struck out two more batters and induced a popup to end the game in the seventh and give the Dukes the series win.
