HARRISONBURG, Va. –
Ethan Larsen has been named James Madison field hockey's newest assistant coach, as announced Head Coach
Christy Morgan on Friday.

Larsen comes to JMU after spending the past two academic years at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England where he served as head coach of the men's 2's team and assistant coach for the men's 1's team. Additionally, Larsen held the role of head coach for the L2's, L3's, L4's and L5's for Oxford City Hockey. During his time in England, a member of Oxford Hockey Club was named Men's 1's International Player of the Year, while in 2022 he was named Young Coach of the Year.

"I'm so excited about Ethan joining the staff," said Morgan. "He brings great dynamic energy – a youthful spirit and a positive attitude. I'm certain that he will fit in and enhance the amazing JMU culture!"

Larsen graduated from Waikato University in Hamilton, New Zealand where he earned a degree in health, sports and human performance with a minor in business management in 2021. He was a standout hockey player at Tauranga Boys College, being named vice-captain for Midlands' U18 hockey team.
