MOBILE, Ala. – James Madison baseball scored four runs in the final two innings, but it wasn't enough to even South Alabama as it fell on Friday night, 7-4, at Stanky Field.
The Dukes dropped to 24-17 (10-9 Sun Belt) while the Jaguars improved to 24-17 (9-10 Sun Belt).
Junior
Ryan Dooley led the Dukes with a 2-for-5 performance at the place, hitting a triple and knocking two runs in. Senior
Ryan Murphy went four innings as the starter, striking out two and giving up six runs.
How It Happened
First Inning
South Alabama scored the first run of the game on a squeeze bunt in the first and then added two runs for a 3-0 lead on a two-run homer from JG Bell.
Third Inning
A single that fell just over a jumping glove of sophomore
Mike Mancini allowed a run to score for the Jaguars to improve their lead to 4-0.
Fourth Inning
With runners in scoring position, USA plated two runs on another squeeze bunt to take a 6-0 lead.
Fifth Inning
The Jaguars pushed the lead to 7-0 on a run scored off a wild pitch.
Eight Inning
Junior
Fenwick Trimble extended his hit streak to eight games with his eighth homer of the season on a two-run shot to get JMU on the board and make the score 7-2.
Ninth Inning
A double from graduate
Brendan O'Donnell and an error to allow freshman
Kyle Langley to reach put two on for Dooley to knock in on a triple and make it 7-4.
