Sarah Schnell registered a career-high 11 kills, but James Madison volleyball suffered a 3-0 (13-25, 18-25, 24-26) loss to Yale on Saturday afternoon at Rec Hall as part of the Penn State Classic.

Schnell finished with a .348 (11-3-23) hitting clip, which led JMU, who slipped to 5-5. Libero
Jaydyn Clemmer picked up 17 digs, bringing her career total to 1,160 and moving past Danielle Erb (2009-12) for the seventh-most in program history.

Overall, Yale (5-2) hit an efficient .320 on the day and held the Dukes to a .165 hitting percentage. Betsy Goodenow led the Bulldogs with 11 kills and eight digs, while Laurece Abraham totaled 10 kills.

How It Happened
First Set: Yale 25-13
- Ayen Nhial picked up two early kills, but Yale used two service aces to force a JMU timeout with the score 12-6.
- The Dukes called another timeout as the Bulldogs pushed the lead to 17-8.
- JMU could not slow down the Yale attack as the Bulldogs secured a convincing victory in the first, hitting .306 and holding the Dukes to a .067 hitting clip.
- Yale aced the Dukes three times in the set and racked up 16 kills at a .333 percentage.

Second Set: Yale 25-18
- Yale quickly grabbed an 8-2 lead in the second and put the Dukes on their heels.
- Schnell picked up a trio of kills, but the Bulldogs continued to dominate both sides of the net, extending their lead to 16-6 on a block assist from Isabella Mendoza and Gigi Barr.
- JMU scored five of the next six points to cut the deficit to 19-11.
- The Dukes staved off three set points from Yale but dropped the set. Â

Third Set: Yale 26-24
- JMU took its first lead of the set at 10-9 on Schnell's eighth kill of the match, but the Bulldogs scored four in a row to take back a 13-10 lead.
- The Dukes took their first lead of the set (15-14) on a kill from Brenya Reid.
- Yale answered right back and took a 21-16 lead on a Schnell attacking error.
- A 7-1 Dukes run gave JMU a 23-22 lead, but the Bulldogs scored points when it mattered and squeaked away with a 26-24 set win.
Match Notes
- With today's win, Yale has won two straight against JMU and leads the all-time series 2-1.
- Clemmer is one dig away from tying Natalie Abel (2009-12) for sixth on the all-time digs list.
- JMU falls to 0-5 this season when its opponent hits over .200.
