DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – James Madison punter Ryan Hansonhas been selected to the 2025 Trillion Tropical Bowl, which will be played at Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Sunday, Jan. 19
Kickoff for the 10th annual game is set for 11 a.m. and will be streamed on tropicalbow.com/tv for a nominal fee.
Hanson was a three-time All-Sun Belt punter, earning Second Team honors in 2023 and Third Team laurels in 2021 and 2024. This past season, Hanson averaged 42.4 yards per punt on his 50 attempts, which ranks fifth in JMU single-season history. The five-time Ray Guy Award Watch List honoree had eight punts over 50 yards and 16 inside the 20 with only four touchbacks.
Voted the 2024 Boca Raton Bowl Special Teams MVP, Hanson finished his JMU career (2023-24) ranking third all-time in career punt average, at 41.4.
Hanson becomes the fifth former JMU player to compete at the Tropical Bowl, joining Cole Johnson (2021), Todd Centeio (2023), Jordan Swann (2023) and Jamare Edwards (2023).
