Jacob Dobbs Selected to CSC Academic All-District Football Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – James Madison linebacker Jacob Dobbs has been selected to the 2024 College Sport Communicators Academic All-District® Football Team, the CSC announced Tuesday.

This is the third time Dobbs has been named All-District but the first at JMU, as he moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.

The Macomb, Mich., native was All-District in 2021 and 2023 and was also a CSC First Team Academic All-American® after his senior season at Holy Cross in 2023.

Dobbs started nine games for the Dukes this season, leading the team in tackles despite missing four games. He finished the season with 74 total tackles (31 solo) to go with 3.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and a team-leading three fumble recoveries. He had three games with 10+ total stops and was named to the Butkus Award Watch List during the season.

With only the College Football Playoff semifinals and championship games remaining this college football season, Dobbs ranks tied for fifth nationally in fumble recoveries, and he'll finish the season as the Sun Belt leader in the category.

All-time, JMU has had four former student-athletes earn a combined five Academic All-America® honors, with the last coming in 1989 (Mark Kiefer – Second Team).

Voting for the Academic All-America® Team is underway and will be unveiled on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
