DUKES HEAD TO FARMVILLE FOR BATTLE WITH LANCERS
- James Madison men's basketball begins a two-game road trip at Longwood on Nov. 12, at 7 p.m., in Farmville, Va., and the Joan Perry Brock Center.
- JMU improved to 2-1 on the season with an 84-70 win over Coppin State on Nov. 9, while Longwood is coming off a 78-60 road loss to Pitt on Nov. 7.
- The Lancers also own a season-opening win over Mary Baldwin.

- Six JMU players scored in double figures as the Dukes led wire-to-wire in an 84-70 win over Coppin State on Sunday, Nov. 9, inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
- JMU (2-1) hit a season-high 14 threes and shot 45.8 percent from the field, while limiting Coppin State (0-3) to 18 field goals. The Dukes led by as many as 24 points and never trailed.
- Cliff Davis led JMU with 16 points, knocking down four threes. Eddie Ricks III matched his career high in points, tallying 13 on a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor. Freshman Preston Fowler added 11 points in 21 minutes off the bench while leading the Dukes with six rebounds.
- Despite being out-rebounded 35-33, JMU forced 18 Coppin State turnovers, leading to 18 fastbreak points. The Dukes also had six blocks, as Christian Brown swatted three to lead the effort in the paint.
- Demarionatay Hall recorded a double-double to lead Coppin State, recording 13 points and 11 rebounds. Taj Thweatt had 18 points in 28 minutes off the bench to lead the Eagles in scoring.
MCBRIDE DOING IT ALL
- JMU junior Justin McBride has surpassed 10 points in all three games so far for the Dukes, averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
- He opened the season with 14 points and five rebounds at Akron, knocking down a career-high four three-pointers.
- Against Washington & Lee on Nov. 5, McBride hit 6-of-7 shots from the free throw line and finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
- Most recently, he tallied 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists against Coppin State on Nov. 9.
SERIES HISTORY VS. LONGWOOD
- JMU and Longwood have met eight times on the hardwood, with the Dukes holding a 6-2 advantage in the series.
- JMU has won four straight against Longwood dating back to a 79-76 road loss on Dec. 3, 2008. The Dukes are 1-2 in Farmville against Longwood.
- The last meeting came on Dec. 3, 2016, a 71-59 JMU win. In that game, Jackson Kent scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Dukes past Longwood.
- The first matchup between the two schools came on Feb. 21, 2005, a 72-70 JMU win in Harrisonburg.
LANCER CONNECTIONS
- The matchup between JMU and Longwood not only pits in-state foes but plenty of connections between the two programs.
- Matt Sholtis, an assistant coach for Longwood, spent three seasons as the director of operations for JMU, helping lead the Dukes to the 2024 NCAA tournament.
- Longwood Head Coach, a native of Roanoke, Va., played collegiate basketball at Bridgewater College in Harrisonburg.
- Redd Thompson Jr. played the 2024-25 season at JMU before transferring to Longwood and has played 29 minutes in the Lancers' first two games.
