Trailing 66-65 with 0:54 to play, JMU connected on five free throws in a 70-66 victory over Virginia Tech in the third round of the WNIT at the Convocation Center on March 28, 2019.
Kamiah Smalls led the Dukes in scoring with 16 points, followed by Jackie Benitez (15) and Devon Merritt (10).
THE DUKES VS. THE ACC
James Madison owns a 49-67 (.426) mark versus current Atlantic Coast Conference opponents.
The Dukes have faced Virginia Tech the most with 40 meetings. The Hokies hold a 22-18 record over JMU in the all-time series, dating back to 1973.
James Madison has a winning record versus Boston College (2-1), Notre Dame (2-1), Syracuse (2-0) and Wake Forest (7-5).
The last time the Dukes played an ACC foe, James Madison trailed 20-7 after the first quarter and shot 27.3 percent (18-for-66) overall from the field as it fell to No. 21 NC State, 61-47, inside the Reynolds Coliseum on Dec. 19, 2024.

Through Nov. 21 games, JMU owns two top-75Â marks in the nation: blocks per game (51st - 5.8) and steals per game (72nd - 11.3)
The Dukes went 16-2 inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center in 2024-25, marking consecutive seasons with at least a dozen home victories. Additionally, the 16 home wins were the most by the program since the 2018-19 season when James Madison produced an 18-1 record at the Convocation Center.
JMU is 58-22Â (.725) since the Atlantic Union Bank Center opened at the start of the 2020-21 season.
Moreover, Head Coach Sean O'Regan is 118-32Â (.787) when playing in Harrisonburg.
NON-CONFERENCE
James Madison's non-conference slate features four teams that competed in the 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship: George Mason, Liberty, Texas and Notre Dame.
Meanwhile, four foes finished in the top 50 from the final NET rankings of the 2024-25 season: Texas (3), Notre Dame (4), George Mason (45) and Virginia Tech (47).
Four opponents were voted a top-two team in their respective preseason polls: Kent State (1st - Mid-American Conference), George Mason (2nd - A10), Liberty (2nd - CUSA) and Texas (2nd - SEC).
Lastly, Texas (#4) and Notre Dame (#15) were ranked in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll on Oct. 14.
