HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison baseball swept Canisius, winning the series finale, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park for its fourth straight victory.

The Dukes improved to 4-3, while the Golden Griffins fell to 0-3.

Senior
Ryan Dooley led the JMU hitters, going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a hit-by-pitch, an RBI and a run scored. Senior
Todd Mozoki started and earned the win to even his record at 1-1, tossing four innings while scattering five hits and giving up two runs with five strikeouts. Junior
Max Kuhle earned his second save of the season, pitching an inning with two strikeouts.

How It Happened
First Inning
Canisius' Bennett Cox led off the game with a double on the third pitch he saw before scoring two batters later on a single for the first run of the game.

The Dukes responded in the home half of the inning, manufacturing a run without a hit. Sophomore
Ike Schmidly was hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third base on a throwing error before scoring on a groundout.

Third Inning
The Griffs used another single to knock in a run, with Cox beginning the scoring sequence again for a 2-1 lead.

Fourth Inning
JMU tied and then took the lead in the fourth, using a hit by pitch, a walk and a bunt single to load the bases. Graduate
Corey Dowdell then hit a sacrifice fly and was followed by a groundout from junior
Jack Cannizzaro to make it 3-2 in favor of JMU.

- JMU earned its first win of the year when getting outhit (10-4).
- The Dukes struck out 10 or more batters for a third consecutive game, marking the first time since March 5-7, 2021 that the Dukes have accomplished the feat.
