ORLANDO, Fla. – Day two at the Black and Gold Classic for James Madison softball (0-4) concluded with losses of 3-1 to NC State and 10-0 to Georgia in five innings at the UCF Softball Complex.
Kylee Gleason tied a single-game career-high with three hits against NC State in game one and
Raegan Wall got her first career hit, an infield single, also totaling three on the day. In her first career start,
Madalyn Johnson fanned six NC State (3-2) batters in six innings of work.
The Bulldogs (4-0) went 12-22 (.545) at the plate, with Lyndi Rae Davis and Marisa Miller both going 2-for-2 with three RBI each.

NC State 3, JMU 1
Third Inning
- With two on and two out, Gleason singled to shortstop and advanced to second on a throwing error, which allowed Lily Romero to score from second for the 1-0 lead.
Fifth Inning
- NC State's Michele Tarpey tied things up with an RBI single to right center field, scoring MaKayla Marbury from second base.
Sixth Inning
- With a runner on for the Wolfpack, Taylor Ensley homered down the left field line to put NC State ahead, 3-1.
Georgia 10, JMU 0
First Inning
- Georgia's Sarah Gordon singled to right with a runner on first base, she then advanced to second on a JMU fielding error, which also allowed Dallis Goodnight to score from first.
- Davis doubled to left center with two on to score Gordon for the 2-0 advantage and advancing the runner to third.
- The Bulldogs continued the inning with a sacrifice fly by Mua Williams to extend their lead to 3-0.
- Miller capped off the five-run inning for Georgia with a two-run single to right center field.
Second Inning
- Gordon led the scoring off again for the Bulldogs by doubling to right field with a runner on, bringing their lead to six.
- Two runs scored on a single by Davis, her second run-scoring hit in as many innings to extend the Georgia lead, to 8-0.
- Miller added her second RBI single of the day, this time to right field for the Bulldog's ninth run.
Third Inning
- Hannah Davila put Georgia in double-digits with an RBI single through the left side with a runner on second.
Game Notes
- James Madison's 0-4 record is the worst start to a season in program history.
- As head coach, LaPorte now holds a 17-17 record against top 25 opponents.
- Saturday's loss to Georgia marks the first time JMU was run-ruled in five innings in a regular season game since losing 11-0 to UCF on Feb. 22, 2022.
- Taylor Johnson and Lili Smith each made their collegiate debuts in game two against Georgia.
