TROY, Ala. – In a back-and-forth match that featured two lead changes, Troy reeled off three straight singles victories to overcome James Madison, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon in Sun Belt Conference women's tennis action at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.

The Trojans (7-6, 2-2 Sun Belt) won the doubles point after all courts were highly competitive. JMU's duo of Elena Kraleva and Mia Saveljic led 5-3 on court two but went unfinished, as Troy was able to close out doubles play with 6-4 wins on both courts three and one.

In singles, JMU (4-10, 2-2 Sun Belt) gained its first lead of the afternoon with a pair of quick victories. Daria Munteanu had a dominant showing at the top singles spot, conceding just one game en route to a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory against Gabrielle Leslie.

Moments later, JMU went up 2-1 on court six, as Hope Moulin joined Munteanu in the win column, needing just 14 total games to dispatch Emilia Namyslo, 6-0, 6-2.

JMU's lead wouldn't last, as Maria Guirguis upended Kraleva, 6-3, 6-3, on court two to square the match at 2-2.

The final three matches were all tightly contested, but Troy was able to power through, breaking JMU's serve in the final games on both courts four and five, to even its conference record.

Valeriia Avdeeva slid past Ines Oliveira, 7-5, 6-4, on court four, while Leena Metwally downed Sophie Williams by the same score on court three for the decisive point.

JMU will take a brief training trip in Florida during Spring Break and returns to action
